VMware HCX is the workload mobility platform that lets you move virtual machines between vSphere estates, VMware Cloud Foundation and public cloud SDDCs - without re-IP and without a single high-risk cutover weekend. We design, deploy, operate and troubleshoot HCX end to end.

What our HCX service covers

• HCX design & licensing - HCX Advanced vs Enterprise, appliance sizing and uplink bandwidth planning.
• Deployment - HCX Manager, Interconnect (IX), Network Extension (NE) and WAN Optimiser appliances.
• Site pairing & service mesh - compute and network profiles, MTU validation, firewall rules and tunnel health.
• Layer 2 network extension - extend VLANs to NSX segments and cut over gateways with Mobility Optimised Networking (MON).
• Migration execution - Bulk, HCX vMotion, Cold and Replication Assisted vMotion (RAV) with wave plans and rollback.
• Troubleshooting - stalled transfers, broken service meshes, MTU/uplink faults and appliance upgrades.
• Decommission & handover - unextend networks, retire appliances and document the runbook.

HCX migration types at a glance

• Bulk migration - replicate in the background, switch over in a scheduled window. Best for bulk server estates.
• HCX vMotion - live, one VM at a time. Best for a small number of sensitive workloads.
• RAV - replication plus a live switchover, at scale. Best for large or business-critical VMs.
• Cold migration - for powered-off or legacy workloads.

Where HCX fits with VCF

Most HCX projects we run land in VMware Cloud Foundation. If your target is VCF, start with VCF Design for the target architecture, VCF Upgrade if you are moving off vSphere 7/8, and VCF Migration for the full move programme wrapped around HCX.
