HCX migration types at a glance
- Bulk migration - replicate in the background, switch over in a scheduled window. Best for bulk server estates.
- HCX vMotion - live, one VM at a time. Best for a small number of sensitive workloads.
- RAV - replication plus a live switchover, at scale. Best for large or business-critical VMs.
- Cold migration - for powered-off or legacy workloads.
